Arkansas Requirements as a Host State

An institution, seeking to establish an Advanced Practice Registered Nursing (APRN) education program leading to licensure, shall submit a letter of intent to the Board.

·         APRN programs shall comply with criteria established by the Arkansas Department of Higher Education (ADHE).

·         APRN programs shall have appropriate professional accreditation (nursing accrediting organizations recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and/or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation) to be approved by the Board.

·         Arkansas considers teaching in nursing education programs to be the practice of nursing, and therefore requires all faculty be licensed or have the privilege to practice nursing in Arkansas.

·         Students enrolled in APRN programs, who are completing clinical experiences in Arkansas, are required to be licensed or have the privilege to practice nursing in Arkansas.

Licensure: All faculty must be licensed in Arkansas. Students must be licensed or have the privilege to practice nursing in Arkansas.
