    What we're revising it to is are you currently suffering from any condition that impairs your judgment or would otherwise adversely affect your ability to practice safely and in a competent, ethical, and professional manner? It takes out stigmatizing language. It says we're interested in everything that currently will affect your ability to practice safely. And this is in line with what the ADA recommends.

    If there are discrepancies between the background check and licensure application information, the applicant should be questioned regarding the discrepancy, and requested to provide a full explanation of the criminal record and a police report/certified court documents for each discrepancy. Applicant’s failure to disclose, and any lack of cooperation in the further investigation, may be considered in the disposition of the licensure application as well as the criminal charges. Safe Practice 8. Analysis of Applicant Behavior Pattern The applicant’s behavior pattern can be a red flag in the review of the licensure application. Behavioral red flags combined with licensure application or document red flags should cause extra attention and investigation.
