Occupational Licensing Reform Database
Welcome to the first NCSBN Government Affairs Policy Briefing! The NCSBN Government Affairs staff is excited to give members a closer look at the key policy developments in Washington, DC that impactnursing regulatory bodies, state-based regulation, and NCSBN’s public policy goals. For those who are not aware, NCSBN has an office in our nation’s capital where we work to advocate on behalf of our members. NCSBN staff follow the actions of Congress, the Administration, and other important stakeholders. We attend hearings, follow important legislation and work with other organizations to advocate for the issues that are most important to nursing regulatory bodies and our public protection mission.
We will be posting updates on legislation, regulations and other policy developments, detailing why they are relevant, and explaining how NCSBN is responding through letters and other advocacy outreach to these policies as they emerge. This platform offers an opportunity for Government Affairs staff to keep members more informed about issues of importance on the national stage and explain the actions NCSBN staff is taking to address them.
As part of that effort, staff has created a database containing studies, articles and opinion pieces regarding occupational licensing. Occupational licensing reform has become a focal point in recent months at both the state level and in the federal government, with many researchers, states and interest groups producing content addressing the topic. In response, we felt it was important to keep track of these resources and make them available to members on the new Government Affairs Knowledge Network on the HIVE. The database will be updated regularly so you can stay informed on the latest trends and discussions.
