Lifting restrictions on APRNs in Missouri can help avert a health care crisis in America.
It's no secret that Missouri health care is in a state of crisis. The growing shortage of medical providers has pushed our health care resources beyond capacity. Although the entire country is feeling the weight of this, access to care in Missouri's rural and underserved communities is especially strained.
Fortunately, there’s a solution to help increase access to care across our health care system and remove barriers for Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs). Today, in Missouri, outdated laws hold APRNs back, preventing them from providing care to those most in need. The time has come for state lawmakers to permanently lift restrictions on APRNs.
