This annual publication provides data on candidate performance on the NCLEX-RN and NCLEX-PN Examinations and also includes data on the candidates who have been able to take the NCLEX-RN for purposes of licensure/registration in Canada since January 5, 2015. This publication provides a brief overview of how Computerized Adaptive Testing (CAT) works, how the passing standard is set, and how the pass/fail decision is made at the beginning. The main part of the publication is a detailed breakdown of candidate performance for 2024 and includes the pass rates by candidate type, degree type and country. In addition, the publication contains NCLEX historical data (e.g., pass rates, passing standards, and volume) since CAT administration started in 1994.

In 2024, NCSBN conducted the PN and RN Practice Analyses to inform the development of the 2026 NCLEX-PN and NCLEX-RN Test Plans. The practice analysis (i.e., job analysis) studies assist NCSBN in evaluating the validity of the NCLEX test plan that guides content distribution of the licensure examinations. This webinar will discuss the results of the 2024 Practice Analyses and updates to the NCLEX test plans that will be effective April 2026.

The NCLEX-PN test plan includes an in-depth overview of the content categories along with new details about administration of the exam as well as clinical judgment.
