  • Helpful NCLEX Admin Navigation Tips and Operational Procedures Reminders 

    The Examinations Department is pleased to offer the next quarterly webinar for NRBs on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at 1:00pm (Central Time). As the peak exam season is fast approaching after nursing students’ graduation, this webinar will provide a comprehensive review of key features in the NCLEX Admin system and important processes that would help the exams operations staff process the high volume of candidate registrations more smoothly and efficiently. The presentation will cover:

    • Walking through how to best utilize NCLEX Admin features such as: Search-all for candidates’ complete exams history, seats availability search, how to locate special program codes and other helpful resources.
    • Reminding of key operational processes such as how candidates can obtain testing accommodations, what the NRBs can do in the event of a natural disaster impacting candidates in their jurisdiction, and how to request score transfers and re-entry.

  • 2024 PN Practice Analysis: Linking the NCLEX-PN Examination to Practice

    The periodic performance of practice analysis (i.e., job analysis) studies assists NCSBN in evaluating the validity of the NCLEX-PN test plan, which guides content distribution of the licensure examination. This publication analyzes entry-level licensed practical/vocational (LPN/VN) nurse practice in the U.S., including the relevance of clinical judgment in the performance of nursing activities. Because changes can occur in LPN/VN practice, practice analyses are conducted on a three-year cycle.

    The NCLEX, a pivotal tool in our profession, is designed to evaluate the fundamental knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for safe, effective nursing at the entry level. At the heart of this endeavor is a shared understanding of entry-level nurses' evolving characteristics and attributes. As the practice of entry-level nursing continues to evolve, it is crucial to grasp the prevalence of entry-level nurse characteristics and practice behaviors, as well as their duration. This essential exploration supports the attainment of an appropriate match with the exam and examinee. The session will discuss the study conducted to and assess the duration of entry-level nurse characteristics and thus define the nursing entry-level period.
