The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) is a not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to provide an organization through which boards of nursing act and counsel together on matters of common interest and concern affecting the public health, safety and welfare, including the development of licensing examinations in nursing. Some of its many accomplishments include: Being the first organization to implement computerized adaptive testing (CAT) for nationwide licensure examination in 1994. Since then, more than 5 million candidates for nurse licensure have taken the NCLEX Examination via CAT. In 2014, the NCLEX-RN Examination became the licensure/registration exam for Canadian nurses (for all provinces except for Quebec), marking the first time that the test was utilized for the purpose of licensure in another country. Conducting the landmark, award-winning, multisite National Simulation Study examining the use of simulation in prelicensure nursing programs.

So, this session we've seen several bills introduced further defining telehealth practice and establishing either telehealth licensure or registration processes within the state. And this session is definitely bolstered by the release of the Uniform Telehealth Act by the Uniform Law Commission. And I do want to highlight that at the request of the North Carolina Board of Nursing, Nicole was able to provide an analysis and opinions on the act and comments on the implications of the act for both the APRN consensus model and for licensure compacts more broadly.
