BACKGROUND In the years 2001, 2002, and 2003, the number of first-time, NCLEX-RN® candidates who were not educated in one of the NCSBN1 member board juris- dictions was 8,613, 12,762 and 16,490, respectively. The numbers for first-time, NCLEX-PN® candidates were 1,363, 1,810 and 2,198, respectively. The num- bers were even higher when repeat test-takers were included.
