    The Adverse Events Decision Pathway (AEDP) reflects a balance between justice and fairness on the one hand and the need to learn from a mistake and disciplinary action when appropriate on the other hand. Categorization of behavioral choice leads to suggestions including action plans for the nurse, reporting to the BON or law enforcement. State boards of nursing (BONs) may also have specific requirements for special or mandatory reporting to the BON. Information regarding reporting requirements is found in the individual state Nurse Practice Act and Rules and Regulations, Specific report format and process can be found on the state  BON website . Behavioral Choices by the Nurse The AEDP focuses its evaluation of the cause of the practice error or unprofessional conduct by considering the following.

  • NCSBN Opposes American Medical Association Amendment on APRNs | NCSBN

    The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) is a not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to provide an organization through which boards of nursing act and counsel together on matters of common interest and concern affecting the public health, safety and welfare, including the development of licensing examinations in nursing. “In the interest of public safety and protection, best practice dictates that regulation of APRNs should be within the purview of NRBs,” comments Maryann Alexander, PhD, RN, FAAN, NCSBN Chief Officer of Nursing Regulation. “Adding the needless oversight of state medical boards does nothing to enhance patient protection but has the potential to add unnecessary bureaucracy that may actually slow down the regulatory process and impede access to care.”

    The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) is a not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to provide an organization through which boards of nursing act and counsel together on matters of common interest and concern affecting the public health, safety and welfare, including the development of licensing examinations in nursing. On that date, any RN or LPN/VN residing in Connecticut who meets all relevant criteria to apply for a multistate license to practice in other  NLC member states  will be able find more information by visiting the  Connecticut Department of Public Health website . Licensure requirements are aligned in NLC states for those nurses applying for a multistate license.
