    The study is considered to be the largest and most comprehensive research study of the nursing workforce, uncovering the data points that have far-reaching implications for the health care system at large and for patient populations. The 2024 National Nursing Workforce Study is a biennial study conducted by NCSBN and the National Forum of State Nursing Workforce Centers. For a copy of the complete study, visit NCSBN.org/workforce. 88% (RN) & 71% (LPN/VN) licensees actively involved in nursing, an increase over 2022. A sign employment levels have rebounded slightly. 10%-16% increase in median pre-tax annual earnings for nurses. 7.2% of nurses are Latino/Hispanic, double the percent in 2015. 138,000 nurses left the workforce since 2022.
