Opioid and Substance Abuse Treatment NCSBN supports efforts at the federal level to combat the opioid crisis and ensure safe access to substance use disorder treatment. As of 2023, Section 1262 of the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023  removes the federal waiver requirement to prescribe buprenorphine for the treatment of opioid use disorder.
