Guidelines_for_joint_prelicensure_nursing_program_visits.pdf
First, nursing faculty has the responsibility of ensuring that students graduate from a BON-approved nursing program and are clinically competent to practice entry-level nursing at the level of licensure being sought. Second, the student must pass the NCLEX examination. Program approval is an integral part of the licensure process because it assures that the program is in compliance with the BON’s rules/regulations. BONs in most states/jurisdictions have statutory authority and responsibility to set regulatory standards for nursing education.

LetterfromthePresident_2024Feb.pdf
At this time of year many legislatures are in session, so several BOD members reported both positive and concerning legislation, including nurse title protection, APRN bills, licensure, compacts, NRBs regulating other professions and workforce. The BOD agreed that NCSBN’s tracking of legislation and communication to the membership was of value and appreciated. Examples of other regulatory matters discussed were Operation Nightingale, licensing issues, limits on NCLEX® testing, success of apprenticeship programs, work on NCSBN ID, medication aide testing, RN prescribing, use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the regulatory space and international applicants. The BOD received an update on remote proctoring and the use of AI which will be presented at the Midyear Meeting.

Letter_General_June_2023.doc
This biannual publication is electronically sent out in the spring and the fall to educators who subscribe to it, as well as all boards of nursing, updating the educators on our initiatives and the role of regulation in nursing education. You might find the rest of the Web site informative, as well. I'd suggest looking at Research and NCLEX Examinations. You might also want to look at the APRN page or the page on International Nurses ; the latter page has a Resource Manual for Licensing International Nurses. The Model Nursing Practice Act and Nursing Administrative Rules are also available on the Policy section of the Website.

Passport opens to the Select Applications Page. Admins may select access to applications that they want to grant access to. Note, the admin must have authorization to grant access to the application. Not all admins can grant access to all applications. The NURSYS and NCLEX Administration applications require an additional step. We're going to select the NURSYS application in this example. The final step in the new user setup is to set the authorizations for the user. Select Self-assign Groups to allow the user to add themselves to those groups.
