Definition of Nursing Terms | NCSBN
The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) is a not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to provide an organization through which boards of nursing act and counsel together on matters of common interest and concern affecting the public health, safety and welfare, including the development of licensing examinations in nursing. There are four categories of APRNs: certified nurse-midwife (CNM), clinical nurse specialist (CNS), certified nurse practitioner (CNP) or certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA). These nurses can diagnose illnesses, and prescribe treatments and medications. Certified Medication Aide/Assistant (MA-C) A person who is certified to administer medication under the supervision of a nurse.
