And we continue to have ongoing strategic discussions on the future direction of NCLEX. The NEC recommendation to the delegate assembly is to adopt the proposed Test Plan. The NEC recommendation and report are in the business book beginning on page 80. There's a strikethrough version of the test plan on page 89 and a clean copy beginning on page 96. The recommendations for the 2020 NCLEX-PN Test Plan are based on the 2018 LPN/VN Practice Analysis, expert judgment, and feedback from member boards and regulatory bodies.

Approximately 53% of associate degree pro- grams and approximately 52% of diploma programs are accredited. Only 10.6% of practical/vocation programs were found to be accredited. Figure 1 shows the breakdown of the NCLEX® code-approved programs and accredited programs. Accreditation rates previously reported from 2012 applied a similar methodology (Spector & Woods, 2013). Since 2012, there has been a 6.5% increase (N = 3,874 in 2012) in the number of programs across all types but a majority of this is due to the large increase in baccalaureate programs, 811 (in 2012) to 1,036 (present).

Award-winning research from the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) supports regulatory decisions for patient safety and public protection. The sample in this study, representing the more than a million RNs under 35, differed in practice profile from their older counterparts, being more likely to work in hospital settings, or as staff or travel nurses. While the COVID-19 pandemic was a major disruption in many young RNs workplaces, many young RNs noted that the pandemic exacerbated existing issues in their workplace, such as staffing shortages, low pay, or administration issues.
