More info: ncsbn.org/498.htm - NCSBN is changing the education program code schema in order to support expansion of new nursing programs in existing jurisdictions and program expansion into other countries. An NCLEX education program code uniquely identifies a school program where a nurse is educated. The education program code is currently a five digit number assigned by the National Consul of State Boards of Nursing to each program approved by a nursing board. These program codes are used to track performance on the NCLEX examination for each educational program.

The APRN Consensus Model provides guidance for U.S. jurisdictions to adopt uniformity in the regulation of APRN roles, licensure, accreditation, certification and education. They are registered nurses educated in a specific role and patient population at a Masters or post-Masters level. APRNs are prepared by education and certification to assess, diagnose and manage patient problems, order tests and prescribe medications. NCSBN supports an initiative called NursingAmerica to help states align their APRN regulation with the major elements of the Consensus Model for APRN Regulation.
