We had an intentional hep C contamination where the person was ultimately... It was very in the news. He handled that with flying colors, amazing investigation. So, you know, sometimes you're going to make decisions like, yeah, you've got experience doing this, but man, this is just an extreme practice issue. I want my nurse investigator on that. So, it's not a slight, it's just who's more powerful in that investigation, you know. And so it's just really nice to have a well-rounded team. And don't be afraid to hire back. We hire back two retired investigators to share a position.

There's technology like 3D printing that went from something that was just inside of universities and high-end manufacturing to now 3D printers are in libraries. And what I'll be showing you is how they're also in hospitals and how that is changing practice and really enabling some exciting work. Our work and my research in this space and in making in healthcare began in an environment that looked like this. We were in Central America, in Nicaragua, and this was typically what you would see between a hospital and a patient, a road that looked like this.

So to help her, my dad built this whole obstacle course in our backyard that she would have to do for this physical fitness test, including building a wall that was seven feet, four inches tall. He actually built it an inch taller without even telling her. So she could practice. And I remember the first time she got to…tried to get over that wall, and she got her foot about a foot high and just fell off into the dirt. And I thought, oh, this is done. It's not going to…no way she can ever get over this thing. But she picked herself up.

To confirm temporary licenses, visit the issuing BON website. A temporary license issued by a compact state is valid in that state only and does not carry multistate status. Where Practice Takes Place Lawful practice requires that a nurse be licensed or have the privilege to practice in the state where the patient or recipient of practice is located at the time nursing service is provided unless an exemption is in place. Multistate Health Care Systems: A nurse leader should be licensed or hold the privilege to practice in states in which they have multistate responsibility for nurses.

Where Practice Takes Place Lawful practice requires that a nurse be licensed or have the privilege to practice in the state where the patient or recipient of practice is located at the time nursing service is provided. This is not to be confused with the state where the patient resides because the patient may not be located in the state of residency at the time practice occurs.

What You Need to Know: Federal/Military Nurses and Spouses Federal, Veterans Administration, Military and Indian Health Services Nurses The Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) allows a nurse (registered nurses [RNs] and licensed practical/ vocational nurses [LPN/VNs]) to have one multistate license in the primary state of residence (PSOR or the home state) and to practice in other compact states (remote states), while subject to each state’s practice laws. Advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) are not included in the NLC. Based on federal supremacy, nurses in this category are exempt from licensure in the state of practice when they hold an active nurse license in any state.

This pertains to in-person or telehealth practice. • Nurses holding a multistate license are allowed to practice across state lines in other NLC states. However, a multistate license is changed to a single state license when practice is limited to the home state due to a restriction on the license or some level of disciplinary action. • Advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) are not included in this compact.
