If a nurse in this category wishes to hold a multistate license, the nurse must have legal residency in an NLC state.

Ridenour explained the rationale for the Rules Committee to compose model language and reviewed the legal citations from the NLC statute and rules. J. Puente explained that the exact language is not mandatory but may be amended. States should have language in participation agreements which clarify that a participant cannot hold a MSL during the term of the program and that practice is limited to the home state. Additionally, for states which allow voluntary participants to enter the program without the knowledge of the BON, there should be language in the agreement which require the nurse to notify the BON of their enrollment within 10 days.
