Think about that. What is the true difference between 0 or .0001 logits? Not a real difference, huh? Even though we do standard setting in a very rigorous way, there's no true value. Passing standard is related to mission of the organization and the exam. For NCLEX, the mission is public safety. When we set a standard, we need to keep the mission in our mind. Standards should be revisited when test specifications, scope of practice, education programs, and/or other factors change. When we change a test plan, we need to reevaluate the standard.

On the other hand, longer-length exams will be delivered to candidates whose abilities are close to the passing standard. The computer keeps feeding items to candidates for collecting enough information to decide if a candidate should pass or fail the exam. Now, we know that the test difficulty and the test lengths can be customized to candidate's ability. You may wonder how we can assure the content coverage is appropriate for a CAT exam. In the NCLEX exam, the test blueprint is the NCLEX-RN and NCLEX-PN test plans. The NCLEX-RN and the PN test plans provide the summary of the content and the scope of the licensure examination.

So those things are looked at when we have these items go through the review panels. - Excellent. Emily, can you comment on the extent to which community health settings or activities are covered on the exam? - Sure, absolutely. So all of the information, in order to look at that in all content across the NCLEX and then eventually, upon launch, NCLEX NGN, are going to be in the test plan that's available on NCSBN's website. And there will be a new test plan that's coming out. We also go through and there's items that are represented across that entire test plan.

Think about that. Is there true differences between 0 logits to 0.001 logits? Not really. Even though we do standard setting in a very rigorous way, there's no true value existing.
