Can you give any examples of what would be considered irregular activity at the testing center? - Thank you, Jason. This related to our test security as well as the conforming of the NCLEX Candidate Rules, that each candidate test taker, before entering the testing room, they have to review carefully the NCLEX Candidate Rules and acknowledge they're conforming. An example of the irregular behavior would be candidates trying to bring an electronic device into the testing room, and that violate the candidate rules that we have indicated clearly on our checking process. - Thank you, Thy.

My name is William Muntean, and in this session, we will discuss the NCLEX item types and their corresponding scoring rules. By the end of this presentation, you'll be able to discuss the NCLEX scoring rules and understand how those scoring rules are applied to the NCLEX item types. The primary goal of the scoring models is to map candidate responses, the options that they select on an item to measurable score points.

The exam will end early if a candidate's ability is well above or below the passing standard. However, if the ability is close to the passing standard, a longer exam will be given to gather more information for making the pass-fail decision. This is the criteria that a computer uses to determine if a candidate should pass or fail the exam. It reflects the ability level of a minimally-competent candidate on the NCLEX exam. If you are interested in knowing how the passing standard is determined, please attend a presentation for standard setting. To begin an exam, the CAT algorithms will select an item that is easier than the passing standard.
