This additional database may help in reconciling conflicts in social security number, date of birth or residence address. A NRB may want to consider using or subscribing to a service that provides a comprehensive, nationwide public records search. Such services can provide authentication of an individual’s identity by providing current and previous addresses, Social Security numbers and date of birth.

Sometimes they do it consciously, sometimes they do it unconsciously, but in essence, they go on disability as a way to make money, and they literally cannot afford to get well, because if they were to get well, they would no longer get their paycheck. You'll see here that, for example, Social Security Disability in 1957, there are 150,000 people and the most common causes were cardiac disease and cancer. Today, we have over 8 million people receiving SSDI, the most common causes are mental health and chronic pain disorders. In essence, medical disability has become our social safety net and the absence of another social safety net that's functional in this country.

Now, it got so bad that they called 911. They couldn't transfer her to the new facility. They had to take her to the emergency room. And a few days later, she died. And, of course, an investigation was initiated, not first by the nursing board, first by the Social Services Department who licensed the actual facility. Now, during that investigation, the Social Services investigator talked to Nurse Clawson. And what he said was, again, he put himself forward as someone specializing in elder care, and specifically in facilities that were licensed by the Social Services division.
