These two studies suggest that, if nurses were officially granted the authority to supervise unlicensed assistive personnel, for instance, their job satisfaction may increase. Further, if the LPN scope of practice were expanded, registered nurses (RN) might be freed up to perform other duties, which might lessen the strain on the RN workforce during surges as well as normal times.
