The best social science evidence out there that I found really points to the fact that giving folks a second chance, robust networks of opportunity for folks coming out of the prison system really does strengthen the economy and helps improve public safety, helps employees find good employers. [00:11:00] And, you know, given the history of criminal justice in this country can start to advance racial and social justice issues.

I can't figure out how somebody concluded that books were to be for white kids only. That was a law. But unfortunately, at that time, only the law changed. Nothing else changed with it. All things social, cultural, psychological, ideological, remained in place, which by the way accounts for the craziness we find today in 2019. There's a reason for that. And so by assuming the mantels of leadership, our little group of nine, demonstrated to all who would see that here is law-abiding behavior.
