REx-PN Item Review: Sensitivity and Differential Item Functioning (DIF) | NCSBN
The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) is a not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to provide an organization through which boards of nursing act and counsel together on matters of common interest and concern affecting the public health, safety and welfare, including the development of licensing examinations in nursing. Will candidates with comparable nursing knowledge perform similarly on exam items, regardless of their gender, ethnicity, or other factors irrelevant to nursing practice? This session will describe how Sensitivity and Differential Item Functioning (DIF) panels contribute to the fairness and legal defensibility of an exam.
