Marijuana-Impaired Driving
The report is to educate the public that drugs other than alcohol, including marijuana, are absorbed, distributed and eliminated from the body differently than alcohol. While BAC correlates closely with impairment, there is no such measure (e.g., THC) for marijuana that correlates with impairment. Thus, a BAC-equivalent impairment measure is not possible. There's been artificial intelligence in health care for quite some time. From the stethoscope, to the EKG, to MRIs, we have sought ways to improve our natural abilities, to see, to feel, to understand, to care for the patient. You also will see variations of this term being used all over the media or in publications, be it augmented intelligence, assistive intelligence, autonomous intelligence, smarter intelligence. There's machine learning, deep learning, neural networks, deep neural networks, artificial neural networks, all sorts of terms that are being put about to try and differentiate the aspects of how we apply this technology.

We can sort by gender of the licensee, we can sort by specialty of the licensee, but it's very difficult to do and it's all very hand-massagey kind of demographic information. So, one of the things that we need to do better as a commission is to get better database systems where we can actually collect more data on this issue. We have seen increased media interest in sexual assault on misconduct cases across all professions. But this became up close and personal to me when in the summer of 2016, the Atlantic Journal-Constitution published a series of articles regarding doctors and sex abuse, that highlighted the national investigation into how state medical boards were dealing with these types of cases. ©2019 National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc.

They've been looking at this issue for well over a decade, and working really hard to make some policy changes. This past session, another policy change that took place, unfortunately, on the heels of a tragic incident in Dallas where a nurse and a social worker were both killed on a labor and delivery unit by a felon on parole who cut off his ankle bracelet and entered the facility. We now can join the other states that expand the criminal penalty from a misdemeanor to a felony in any department within a health care facility. - So that is really something that all states could do.

The modules will either be offered by the employer, in a collaborative program with other institu- tions, or NCSBN is developing interactive, online modules using cutting-edge tech- nology to meet this requirement.
