So mobilization is not guaranteed. And this is among your supporters. This is among the people with whom you see eye-to-eye. They still might not identify. They still might not mobilize. So, suppose we wanted to pursue some policies related to advanced-practice nurses. I get the impression that that might be something of interest to folks in this audience. Or other issues related to the National Council. What we'd want to do then is we'd want to think about how people identify. So do the APNs, do the advanced- practice nurses, do they identify as health advocates?

Nurses are increasingly using blogs, forums and social networking sites to share workplace experiences particularly events that have been challenging or emotionally charged. These outlets provide a venue for the nurse to express his or her feelings, and reflect or seek support from friends, colleagues, peers or virtually anyone on the Internet. Journaling and reflective practice have been identified as effective tools in nursing practice. The Internet provides an alternative media for nurses to engage in these helpful activities. Without a sense of caution, however, these understandable needs and potential benefits may result in the nurse disclosing too much information and violating patient privacy and confidentiality.

I want to quickly address some misconceptions with sexual misconduct complaints and recidivism because this concern came up a lot in our literature review. Some authors such as Pope in our li * review argue that providers with a known history of sexual misconduct should never be allowed to practice again because they pose too greater risk to the public even after receiving treatment. Currently, there are no controlled outcomes studies with regards to long- term rehabilitation for any medical provider after being disciplined for conduct that's sexual in nature.

So our participants focused much attention on trust, mistrust, and trustworthiness in relation to the inclusion of AI, and an AI tool in decision making related to complaints in nurse regulation. Our focus group participants were very aware of the consequences of error in fitness to practice processes. And as they indicated, flawed decision making could result in registrants either continuing to harm patients, or, of course, being incorrectly judged to lack fitness to practice. Either way, the consequence is serious, and remind regulators of their responsibilities to ensure that decision-making processes are trustworthy.
