Exam Volunteer Opportunities

Professionally committed nurses who are currently licensed and employed in the United States, Canada or NCSBN member jurisdictions are needed to assist in developing exam items or questions.

NCLEX and REx-PN Volunteer Options

  • Item Writing - Item writers create the items that are used for exams
  • Item Review - Item reviewers examine the items that are created by item writers
  • Panel of Judges - The panel of judges completes standard setting exercises to recommend potential passing standards on licensure exams

How to Participate

Simply apply online if you are interested in being a panelist. If approved NCSBN will notify you when you are considered for a specific panel. Sessions are held virtually or in Chicago throughout the year and typically last 3-4 days.

Reminder: LPN/VN/RPNs who plan to take the NCLEX-RN within two years of service with NCSBN do not qualify for participation.
