Join legal experts to examine timely legal issues relating to the Compact. This free seven-part series is available via Microsoft Teams. While the conference is developed for attorneys and investigators, registration is open to all board of nursing (BON) staff. The deadline to register is the Friday before each session date.

The Contractual Nature of Interstate Compacts and the Intersection with State Law

This session focuses on the concept of a compact as a contract, as well as interstate compact law principles, with citations to relevant federal law. You will learn when interstate compact law prevails over conflicting state law, the binding nature of compact rules and the obligation to comply with compact provisions.

Avoiding Common Errors When Drafting Board Orders and Consent Agreements as an NLC State

You will learn common drafting errors and determine when the licensee is eligible for a multistate license after the removal of all encumbrances.

In this 30-minute session you will hear National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB) reporting requirements in relation to specific board actions (such as public, private, and final) and when to report administrative denial vs denial for cause. You will learn to identify the correct coding to report a denial for cause to NPDB, how to access NPDB codes, and NPDB coding options for reprimands which may be encumbering or non-encumbering.

Join us for a 30-minute overview on the definition of “agreed disposition,”  and types of plea agreements which constitute an agreed disposition. You also will learn about multistate license eligibility as it relates to an applicant with an agreed disposition.

Compact Briefs: Unraveling Some of the Most Misunderstood NLC Topics

  • conversion to a single-state license when there is a PTP action,
